A very fine brass surveying circle with six sights, two of which are mounted on a rotating alidade. The circle measures 15,5 cm diameter. It is signed “Butterfield à Paris” and can be dated circa 1700. It preserves its original cap, which is quite rare. The instrument is complete with all its sights, its ball joint, and its stand.
